We are thrilled to share that Lumify has raised $1.25 million dollars in seed funding from Y Combinator, Flare Capital, Fresco Capital, Crista Galli Ventures, Adam Grant, Andrew Parker (CEO @ Papa), Will Patterson & Sofia Pessanha (Founders @ CareRev), Mark Switaj (CEO @ Roundtrip), and more. Now, more than ever, healthcare workers need access to the best gear and resources, and our seed financing is helping Lumify grow faster than ever to meet that demand. Thank you to our incredible Lumify investors for believing in our nurse-led team and product.
In addition to our raise, we’re excited to launch the Lumify Market, a single check-out marketplace housed within the Lumify App, which is now home to over 150 brands, organizations, and resources.
The problem Lumify solves is one that we experienced ourselves as Registered Nurses: healthcare workers lack access to the gear and resources we need to excel.
We started our Lumify journey by launching a product that we needed as nurses: a wearable light to see when our patient is resting. Since the launch of Lumify’s uNight Light on January 22, 2021, the product has been used by over 100,000 healthcare workers across the country and purchased by more than 250 hospitals.
Throughout our build of the uNight Light, we identified another problem: there isn’t a central ecosystem for healthcare workers to access and manage their gear and resources.
Lumify solved this problem by launching the Lumify Hub, a one-stop-shop for healthcare workers, in August 2021. Within weeks, we had nearly 10,000 healthcare workers and 50 brands on our scrappy MVP (which we built using WebFlow). We saw 90% of our traffic coming from mobile phones making our next move clear.
We launched the Lumify App in January 2022, which we call the “Super App for Healthcare Workers.” While healthcare workers can download the Lumify App for free, employers, like CareRev, are providing Lumify as a professional benefits perk to their healthcare staff.
This week, we’re shipping our in-app market, which allows our users to buy products directly in the Lumify App through a single integrated checkout experience. Every time users shop and engage on Lumify, they earn “Lumify Points,” which act as credit for future purchases.
Our core offerings in the Lumify App include:
- Unit: A digital home for healthcare workers to read healthcare news and research, find and match with a Lumify coach, and explore trending products.
- Market: A one-stop-shop ecosystem for healthcare workers to find, share, and buy the gear and resources they need.
- Station: A community forum for healthcare workers to trade advice, product reviews, and encouraging stories.
- Hub: A portal to access free resources, discounts and special offerings from Lumify’s partners.
We’ve also expanded Lumify’s own product line beyond the uNight Light to include healthcare worker essentials like underscrubs, scrub hats, compression socks, white board badge reels, and pins.
We now have over 50,000 healthcare workers across the country a part of our #LumifyFam, and we’re just getting started.
To celebrate Nurses’ Week, our team is currently on a national tour where we’re hosting pop-ups in 8 cities with some of our partners including Eko, CareRev, NurseWallet, DearFoams, ConnectRN, and DOLAN scrubs. It’s been so fun to meet our #LumifyFam in-person, spread the word about the Lumify App, and celebrate our healthcare community.
